Report on orientation to MSc Nursing and NPCC 2025 batch

The orientation program for the freshers of the 32nd Batch of M.Sc Nursing and 9th batch of Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Post Graduate Residency Program was organized by 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育, on September 1st, 2025, at the Conference Hall, MCON, MAHE, 沙巴体育. Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON 沙巴体育, briefly introduced the institution. Further, new students introduced themselves to the gathering followed by the faculty introduction. Orientation to the Nursing Services was given by Dr. P. Suba Sooria, Head-Nursing Services, Kasturba Hospital, 沙巴体育. The students and their parents were familiarized with the hostel facilities by Lt. Col. Manjunath Pai G, Chief Warden of the MAHE 沙巴体育 campus. Followed by Dr. Arvind Kumar Pandey, Deputy Director of Student Affairs (Health Sciences), MAHE, 沙巴体育, provided an orientation on student support services. He gave an overview on important safety precautions, outlining the do's and don'ts for students. Additionally, he also highlighted the various recreational facilities, including indoor games at Mareena and the extracurricular activities organized by MAHE, such as Utsav, 沙巴体育 Yoga Day, and many more. Dr Arvind also emphasized disciplinary measures in place to address substance abuse. Mr. Lesslie Joseph D’Souza, Chief Fire safety officer at MAHE, 沙巴体育, oriented the freshers on fire safety procedures. Concluding remarks about the event were given by Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON 沙巴体育.

The second day of the orientation began with a detailed session on ISO 9001:2015 & 14001:2015 by Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Professor & QMR, MCON, 沙巴体育, MAHE. Followed by orientation to mentor mentee by Dr Shalini G Nayak, Class coordinator, 1st Year M.Sc. Nursing. A briefing on academic registration and admission formalities was held by Mr. Gururaj Executive-Admin & Operations, MCON, MAHE, 沙巴体育 and Mr. Praveeth, Associate at the MCON Office. Dr. Melita Sheilini, Associate Professor at MCON, MAHE, provided an overview of the Anti-Ragging Committee and its activities, explaining the online submission of anti-ragging declarations by both students and parents. Followed by Dr Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor at MCON, then oriented the students to the physical layout of MCON & Kasturba Hospital. Mrs. Manjula, Assistant Professor at MCON, provided a brief orientation on LPG safety, followed by Mrs. Sweety Jousline Fernandes, who explained the examination process and E-pad writing. The day concluded with an orientation to the Central Library, Health Sciences MAHE, by Dr. Shivananda Bhat, Chief Librarian, MAHE. The two days program contributed to SDG 3 & 4: Good Health and Well-being and Quality Education.
