The Health and Social Welfare Committee of 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育 has organized a blood donation drive on 1st October 2024 at the Blood Centre, Kasturba Hospital, 沙巴体育, between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm as a part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

The blood donation drive was officially inaugurated by Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, 沙巴体育. He enlightened the students with the significance of the voluntary blood donation day. Dr Shamee Shastry, Professor and Head of the Department of Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, Kasturba Medical College, 沙巴体育, shared her insights on the importance of blood donation. Dr. Tessy Tresa Jose, Associate Dean, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing 沙巴体育, was present during the inauguration. A total of 100 students, five faculty from MCON, and six staff from constituent institutions volunteered to donate blood. After the initial screening, 57 were eligible to donate.

The event was coordinated by the student chairperson of the Health and Social Welfare Committee, Student Nurses Association 2024-2025. Ms. Riona Dsouza, 7th Semester BSc(N), Ms. Rosmi Ann Reji, 5th Semester BSc(N), Mr. Farhan K Abdulla, and Ms. Filmiya, 7th Semester BSc(N) students under the guidance of Mrs. Janet Alva, Assistant Professor, Faculty advisor, Mrs. Ranjani P, Assistant Professor -Senior scale, Faculty Co-advisor. This program contributes to Good health and well-being (SDG -Goal 3).
