Report on Nutrition Awareness Program

The nutrition awareness program was organized for the high school students in the community as part of Dr TMA Pai's 125th birth anniversary celebrations.
On October 27, 2023, an awareness program on “Adolescent nutrition and health issues” was conducted for the 9th and 10th grade students of Morarji Desai Residency School, Patla, to create awareness on the role of nutrients in growth and development, academic enhancement, and health issues in adolescents. Dr. Ansuya, Assistant Professor-Selection Grade, had an interactive session with students and sensitized them on the importance of a nutritious and balanced diet, the role of nutrition in growth and development, and enhancement in their academics. Also explained were healthy lifestyles to be practiced to grow as healthy and productive citizens for the country. She highlighted adolescent health issues and concerns and their management and prevention. A total of 50 students participated in the program. All students' weight and height were measured, and they were identified as having a nutritional status. IV year BSc Nursing students presented a video on personal hygiene and government schemes helping to prevent anaemia among adolescents. Mr. Nikhil Castelino, IV year BSc Nursing student, welcomed and delivered the vote of thanks to the participants and faculty.
This health awareness contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 2 (End Hunger),?3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and 4 (Quality Education).
This program was coordinated by Dr. Ansuya, Assistant Professor-Selection Grade, Department of Community Health Nursing, and supported by Dr. Shashidhara YN, Professor and HoD, Department of Community Health Nursing.
