Report of Online 沙巴体育 Symposium

As part of European perioperative nursing day, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育, in collaboration with the Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses’ Association, organized an online ("On-line TCAHD" YouTube channel) international symposium with the theme “Proud Operating Room Nurses: Our Future on February 15, 2024. The long session commenced from 02:30 pm to 5.30 pm, targeting staff nurses, students, and academics from India and Turkey. The day aimed to encourage reflection and focus, not only on the high-level quality care provided but also on the human dimension of our profession.
The opening ceremony was done by Dr. Filiz OGCE AKTAS 沙巴体育 Faculty of MCON, 沙巴体育, Karnataka, India; Professor & Dean, Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Health Science; President, Turkish Surgical & Operating Room Nurses Association, Türkiye.
Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育, was the chief guest for the programme. Mrs. Rishmitha, Lecturer, Medical Surgical Nursing Department, MCON, MAHE, 沙巴体育, welcomed the gathering.
The orientation of the Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association & EORNA-IFPN was done by Prof. Dr. Meryem YAVUZ van GIERSBERGEN, Secretary, 沙巴体育 Federation of Perioperative Nurses; Professor, Dept. of Surgical Nursing, Ege University Nursing Faculty, ?zmir, Turkey.
Society of Perioperative Nursing India & IFPN were introduced by Dr. Suresh Sharma, President, Society of Perioperative Nursing India and Professor, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
The distinguished speaker, Ms. Karin DEMIRCI, RN Ac?badem Healthcare Group Education Development Nurse, Istanbul, Türkiye, 2024, led the session at the European Perioperative Nursing Day Conference: “Proud OR Nurses: Our Future.” She touched on various relevant topics, such as building on a nursing legacy, why new nurses need to know what our past holds, and also to convey to the next generation of nurses that they aren’t simply learning job skills but are joining a profession with a legacy of service and a social environment.
The next session was by Dr. Gurbuz AKTAS, 沙巴体育 Faculty of Humanities, 沙巴体育, Karnataka, India; Professor Emeritus, Ege University, ?zmir, Türkiye on “The Role of Nurses in Dance/Movement Therapy.”.
The last session was by Prof. Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty on “Yoga & Pranayama for Relaxation.”. The lecture explained the concept of yoga & pranayama in-depth, elucidating the importance of these relaxation techniques in healthcare.
The enriching session concluded promptly at 05:30 pm by focusing on Proud Operating Room Nurses: Our Future. The symposium session provided a fresh perspective to the attendees on maintaining mental health in the field of healthcare.
The lecture was both interesting and inspiring, providing a comprehensive understanding of these concepts and their practical implications. It garnered participation from a total of 469 attendees, consisting of Turkish staff nurses and Indian nurses, fifth-semester BSc Nursing students, fourth-year students, Sikkim MSc Nursing students, NPCC students, and faculty members of the college.
The session contributed to SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being.
