Lamp Lighting Ceremony 2023-24

The lamp lighting ceremony for the 34th batch of BSc Nursing students of 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育, was held on 27th September 2023 at Dr TMA Pai Hall, II Floor, KMC, 沙巴体育. The program began by invoking God’s blessings with a prayer song. The esteemed guests present were Dr. Toni Bewley, Program Lead & Senior Learning and Teaching Fellow, Edge Hill University, UK, and an Adjunct faculty MCON, MAHE, 沙巴体育, and Dr. P Giridhar Kini, Registrar, 沙巴体育 Academy of Higher Education. Mrs. Charlet Vaz, Class Coordinator, delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest, followed by ceremonial lighting and a floral tribute to the portrait of Florence Nightingale by the dignitaries on the dais. The chief guest, Dr. Toni Bewley, congratulated the students for choosing the nursing profession and emphasized the caring aspects of nursing and the journey of Florence Nightingale to the budding nurses. She said as we go through the journey as nurses, we face many challenges, and it's our responsibility to keep the patients first. The students were told to make a positive difference in the patients' lives. Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE in his address highlighted the importance of discipline, attendance, internal assessment of marks, application of learning, setting priorities, maturity, social media influence, time management, being healthy, and enjoying the challenges they face in this academic journey. The lamp lighting ceremony, as a symbol of initiation to the nursing profession was given to a total of 139 students of first semester BSc Nursing students. They received the light from the Chief Guest Dr. Toni Bewley, Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, Dr. Linu Sara George, Professor & HoD, Fundamentals of Nursing and Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty, Professor & HoD, Medical Surgical Nursing. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony where the student nurses took the oath to discharge their duties with complete honesty, integrity, and no discrimination. Ms. Mitchell Shilpa Lewis, Lecturer, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing compered the event.?
