Consumer Court Visit: Bridging Legal Theory and Practice

Start Date: May 21, 2025

End Date: May 28, 2025

Students of BA LLB (Hons.) and BBA LLB (Hons.) at 沙巴体育 Law School, Bengaluru, visited the District Consumer Forum at Shantinagar. The forum includes the First, Second, Third, and Fourth (Urban and Rural Bengaluru, Additional Consumer Forums). This immersive learning experience was organised in two batches on the 21st and the 28th of May 2025.

To optimise the learning experience, students were divided into four small groups, each assigned to a different court within the complex. They observed live proceedings in their respective courts, gaining firsthand exposure to how consumer protection laws are implemented in real-time. From advocate arguments to the adjudication process under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, students witnessed the legal system in action.

A highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the presiding officers, including Judge Syed Anser Khalim and Judge Ramachandra. These discussions offered valuable insights into the nuances of consumer dispute resolution, effectively bridging the gap between academic learning and courtroom practice.

Judge Syed Anser Khalim also extended an internship opportunity. The visit significantly enriched students’ understanding of the Consumer Protection Act and offered a rare opportunity to engage directly with judicial officers.
